The Alexandria Museum of Art is the centerpiece of Alexandria's river front, situated on the entire 900 block of Second Street. Nineteen historical buildings include furnished slave cabins, a Smithsonian quality antique, steam gin, plantation store and other outbuildings. Optional Civil War tour is a concise but complete history of the causes of the Civil War beginning with our constitution. The tour includes conflicts, economics, politics, and the effects of the war on our nation’s budget, the plantation slaves, and owners. Hours vary by season. Located on Main Street in Pineville, the Museum was once home to all of Pineville's city offices, including the fire station, city court, jail, library, mayor's office, judge's chambers, police department, and utilities office.
